Six villagers were killed by Naxalites in Rajnandgaon district of Chhattisgarh early on Sunday, Press Trust of India reported quoting police sources. The murder came to light when dead bodies of six people – including that of a village head sarpanch – was found in a wooded area of the district. The villagers are believed to have been kidnapped by the Naxalites earlier in the week, and killed because they were suspected to be spies for the government.

More details are awaited.
