A man sitting in his car was shot at on the Phagwara-Jalandhar section of National Highway 44 on Thursday with a gun fired from another car, police said.
Sukhwinder Kumar, alias Honey, escaped unhurt as he sped away, they said.
A resident of Kanshi Nagar in Phagwara, Sukhwinder, told reporters that he was driving when he was fired at near a hotel on the highway.
He alleged that certain elements connected with a drug case filed last year against him were behind the firing.
A case was filed in connection with the shooting and a police investigation launched.
