Jammu and Kashmir government on Thursday ordered a massive shake up in the civil and police administration to meet the prevailing law and order challenges in the Kashmir Valley.
The state cabinet which met in Srinagar on Thursday afternoon under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah ordered the changes, appointing Indian Administrative Services officer B R Sharma as the new principal secretary home while B B Vyas was appointed as the new principal secretary to chief minister replacing Khurshid Ahmad Ganai, who is new principal secretary in planning department.
Asghar Samoon is the new divisional commissioner in Kashmir.
Indian Police Services officer K Rajendra Kumar is the new additional director general law and order and state armed police. Dr. Srinivas, IPS, is the new state intelligence chief.
S M Sahai, IPS, has replaced Farooq Ahmad, IPS, as the inspector general of police in Kashmir zone. Ahmad goes as the new inspector general, security.
Inspector general security, Ram Lubaya, IPS, and Rafiqul Hassan, senior superintendent of police incharge security, have been removed and attached to the police headquarters as a consequence of the security lapse during the Independence Day parade at the Bakshi stadium where a suspended police constable hurled a shoe at the chief minister.
