The Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad on Monday told a special court in Mumbai that they have procured the telephonic records of Praveen Mutalik alias Praveen Venkatesh Takalki, key accused in the 2008 Malegoan blast case, and want to scrutinise it to trace the other absconding accused.
"The ATS told the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act court that they want to trace the two absconding accused Ramchandra Kalsangra and Sandeep Dange after going through the telephonic records," Mutalik's lawyer Naveen Chomal said.
Seeking extension of Mutalik's police custody, the ATS further said that they wanted to confront some witnesses before Mutalik.
"We sought Mutalik's custody as there is significant progress in the investigation," said special public prosecutor Rohini Salian.
The court extended the police custody of Mutalik, 32, arrested from Gokak in Karnataka on February 1, till February 21.
The ATS had arrested 11 persons including Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur and Lt Col Shrikant Purohit for allegedly carrying out the blasts at Malegaon in September 2008 that killed six people and injured several others.
