A protocol officer who works at Lok Sabha has been missing for the past two days. Janmesh Singh, who was travelling from Delhi to Orai to fetch his mother for a surgery in Delhi, when he went missing. He was last traced between Orai and Jhansi while the last call he made was from a locality in Jhansi, police said.

Inquiries made by the railway police revealed that Janmesh was dropped at Delhi's Nizamuddin station by his wife Namrata, who was accompanied by a family friend Atul Singh on August 27, when he boarded the Sampark Kranti Express.

According to additional director general of police (Railways) A K Jain, "Railway records have confirmed that he was on the train; our investigating team is trying to get in touch with other passengers who were booked in the same S–5 coach along with Janmesh Singh."

While cops have not been able to make any headway so far, family members of the missing protocol officer have alleged that Janmesh Singh's wife had some role to play in the whole affair.

"I would not be surprised if Namrata and Atul Singh, who went to drop Janmesh at Nizamuddin railway station, have something to do with the mysterious disappearance of Janmesh," a close kin told the railway police.
