Five Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) militants, arrested for their connections with the 2006 Varanasi blasts accused Waliullah, were on Wednesday awarded life imprisonment by a court in Lucknow.
The fast track court also awarded Mehboob Alam, Mohammad Sueb, Mohammad Rizwan, Mohammad Shaad and Farhan 32 years of imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 40,000 each under different sections of IPC.
Judge D R Mishra said all the punishment would run concurrently.
The five were arrested from Sarojini Nagar area here on April 5, 2006 and alleged to be accomplices of Waliullah.
The prosecution had also claimed the militants to be Waliullah's accomplices.
An AK-47 rifle, RDX and other explosives and a large quantity of ammunition besides maps of Lucknow, Varanasi and Barabanki cities were recovered from them.
At least 12 people were killed in the blasts in Sankat Mochan temple in Varanasi in March 2006.
