A 31-year-old Pakistani national has been arrested in Malaysia's Perak province on charges that he underwent terrorist training at a Lashkar-e-Tayiba camp before he arrived in Malaysia in August 2016.

According to the statement tweeted by the police chief of Perak state, the Pakistani national was employed as a labourer in Perak.

Two Malaysians, an Egyptian and another national from the Middle-East were also arrested along with the Pakistani national in counter-terrorism swoops conducted across four Malaysian states, police chief Fuzi Harun said on Wednesday.

The Egyptian had allegedly met Osama bin Laden and was based in Afghanistan from 1988 to 1993.

The Malaysians were arrested for allegedly sending funds to a Malaysian member of ISIS in Syria.
