Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav on Wednesday asked the Central Bureau of Investigation to probe the Rs 200 crore sleeper purchase scam with "full speed and honesty".

"The scam has been unearthed following reports of the Standing Committee on Railway, which has asked for an independent inquiry and the CBI is already in possession of vital documents," Yadav said in Patna.

Regarding his predecessor Nitish Kumar's involvement in the scandal, he said, "Whether it is Nitishji or anybody else, the CBI should act without bias and take its investigation to the logical conclusion."

The Auditor General of India in its report had also highlighted gross irregularities in the purchase of sleepers, he said.
