First Information Reports were on Monday registered against Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Prasad and his wife Rabri Devi for allegedly violating the model code of conduct by taking their security guards inside a booth of the Digha assembly constituency in Bihar to cast votes in the state assembly polls.
The FIRs for violating the model code of conduct were registered by Digha Block Development Officer Ashok Kumar at the Patna Airport police station against Prasad and Rabri Devi.
The returning officer for the Digha assembly constituency Maqsood Alam told PTI that according to the rules, a VIP was not allowed to take bodyguards or commandos within a radius of 100 metre of a booth.
Earlier, Prasad and Rabri Devi, along with son Tejpratap and daughter Ragini, drove to booth no. 18 at the Veterinary College in Patna and entered with the security personnel in tow. After casting his vote, Prasad left for campaigning. He refused to speak to the waiting journalists.
