A local court on Thursday extended till July 23 the police custody of Parvez Tak who is accused of murdering starlet Laila Khan and her family at a farm house in Nashik district.
The Crime Branch told the Esplanade court, where Tak was produced for the first time after the murder charge was added against him, that he had prepared a forged PAN card in name of Laila's biological father Nadir Patel, and the investigators now want to find out if any other documents were also forged by him.
The sleuths also told the court that preliminary report by doctors suggested that the deceased died of skull injury.
"Only Tak knows about the whereabouts of the another wanted accused Shakir Hussain Wani and therefore it's very important to locate, search and arrest the latter," argued public prosecutor Kiran Bendbar.
He also told the court that police have yet to seize some other ornaments and valuables of the victims.
Tak is accused of killing Laila, 30, her mother Shelina, 51, elder sister Azmina, 32, twin siblings Zara and Imran, 25 and cousin Reshma at the starlet's farm house in Igatpuri in Nashik district. The family had gone missing in February 2011 from Mumbai.
According to Tak, the third husband of Shelina, the latter kept him in dark about her previous marriage with Asif Sheikh and had told him that Asif was her brother.
Sources said that Tak always suspected that Shelina had an affair with Asif.
Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Himanshu Roy had earlier said that Tak strongly disapproved of Sheikh maintaining contact with Shelina and others even as their decision to relocate to Dubai made him feel alienated as he did not have a passport.
