Security at the Raj Bhavan in Thiruvananthapuram has been stepped up after a caller from a Gulf country issued a threat to the life of Kerala Governor R S Gavai, police said on Monday. The call to Raj Bhavan on Sunday night came hours after Gavai had given sanction for the Central Bureau of Investigation to prosecute ruling Communist Party of India-Marxist

state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan in the SNC Lavalin corruption case, overruling the Left Democratic Front cabinet's recommendation against it.

The caller spoke in Malayalam, the police said. A complaint was lodged with the Museum police station. Using details in the caller ID which recorded a 11-digit phone number, police said it found the call was made from a Gulf country.
