A US court dealt another blow to Kazaa software, which is used by millions of Internet users for downloading songs, movies and other files online.
A federal judge has ruled that Sharman Networks -- distributors of the software -- cannot pursue an anti-trust lawsuit against major recording labels and movie studios, CNN reported on Wednesday.
Sharman Networks made the antitrust claims in January as part of its defence of a copyright infringement suit filed by entertainment firms.
Sharman argued music labels and studios conspired to keep authorised and copy-protected versions of their songs and movies off Kazaa.
It argued that piracy was the result of the policies pursued by the entertainment companies, saying they failed to work with Sharman to create a legal alternative.
