BrahMos, the supersonic cruise missile developed in collaboration with Russia, is ready for induction into the armed forces, President A P J Abdul Kalam said on Friday.
The missile "has been successfully tested for the anti-ship role and is ready for induction," he told the joint sitting of Parliament marking the commencement of the Budget session.
Modernisation of the armed forces was one of the government's priority areas, he said, adding that more funds were allocated to the three services.
"A number of new projects for induction of various equipment and weapon systems are in progress," he said.
