A Rashtrapati Bhavan spokesman said in New Delhi, "It has been reportered in some section of media on Tuesday that senior advocate P N Lekhi informed the Delhi High Court during a hearing involving Rajbir Singh that the President asked for the police officers transfer following the incident in West Delhi. "The contention that the President asked for Singh's transfer is incorrect and baseless," he said.
Lekhi informed the Delhi High Court on Monday, "It was the President who intervened in the matter and got him transferred."
Lekhi appeared on behalf of Surinder Kaur and five others who charged the ACP with manhandling members of a family and ransacking their house in Mansarovar Garden here over some property dispute.
Lekhi had claimed he had sent a CD of the incident recorded by the media to the President, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Home Minister Shivraj Patil and it was then that the President intervened in the matter.
