Former Afghanistan President Burhanuddin Rabbani has been killed in explosion at his house in Kabul on Tuesday evening. He was leading the leading the country's efforts to talk peace with the Taliban.
The suicide attack took place in the city's diplomatic zone close to the United States embassy. An ambulance had arrived at the scene and surrounding roads were blocked off.
The interior ministry could not immediately confirm the target of the blast.
