The Jammu and Kashmir police on Tuesday set to charge-sheet the paramilitary border security force (BSF) commanding officer and a trooper involved in the killing of a 17-year-old schoolboy on February in Srinagar in February.

A senior police officer confirmed they would present the challan against the commanding officer of 68 battalion BSF, R K Birdi and a jawan Lakhwinder Kumar in the court of the chief judicial magistrate (CJM) Srinagar.

"The two accused persons have been charge-sheeted under sections 302, 201 and 109 of the RPC for murder, abetment and destruction of evidence in the case," the officer told rediff.com.

Zahid Farooq Sheikh, a 10th class student, was allegedly shot dead by the BSF soldiers in the Nishat area of Srinagar.

The killing of Zahid had triggered massive protests and demonstrations in the capital city and other parts of the valley, forcing administration to impose a curfew.

The commanding officer and the trooper were later suspended by the BSF authorities and handed over to the local police for interrogation.

BSF trooper Lakhwinder Kumar had told police that he had shot at the boy on the orders of his boss R.K.Birdi.
