Suspected terrorists on Friday opened fire near the gate of a four-star hotel at Pantha chowk-Parimpora bypass road on the outskirts of the city, killing an employee.

The terrorists opened fire near the gate of hotel Silver Star near Lasjan around 4:20 pm, resulting in death of one of its employees identified as Farooq Ahmad, police said.

It was not immediately clear whether the hotel or a security forces convoy passing through the area was the target of the terrorists, they said.

Security forces have cordoned off the area and launched a hunt to track down the terrorists, the police said.
