Authorities have imposed curfew-like-restrictions in parts of Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday to scuttle protests called by separatists on the death anniversary of the pro-independence Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front founder Maqbool Bhat.

Bhat was hanged in New Delhi’s Tihar jail this day in 1984.
The separatists groups have called for a valley shutdown and protests to press their demand for return of the mortal remains of Bhat to his family.
Authorities early this morning moved heavy police and paramilitary, Central Reserve Police Force reinforcements in areas falling under five police stations of Nowhatta, Khanyar, M R Gunj, Rainawari, Safakadal and the uptown Maisuma area to enforce the restrictions.
