Bharatiya Janata Party leader Arun Jaitley, said late Thrusday night that the discussions on the Jan Lokpal bill should be held within the provisions of the Parliamentary procedure.
Jaitley was addressing mediapersons after meeting of the BJP parliamentary board meeting. When asked to comment whether the Bill would be introduced Jaitley told rediff.com that nothing can be said with certainty. "The government has not given us any indications so far," Jaitley said.
BJP President Nitin Gadkari, in a letter to Anna Hazare said that he was shocked that the government has backed out of all the promises they had earlier made.
"I fail to understand where things have gone wrong? Is the government not concerned about your health?" the letter said.
"The BJP extends its wholehearted support to your movement against corruption," he said. BJP leader Surinder Singh Ahluwalia clarified that the Jan Lokpal Bill could form the basis of discussion on a strong Lokpal Bill. He parried the question whether the party accepts Bill. "You should watch Parliament proceedings later in the day", he said.
Meanwhile, senior BJP leader Yashwant Sinha, who shot off an angry letter to the party president and offered to resign from the Lok Sabha along with party member Shatrugun Sinha over the manner in which party had given space to civil society to raise the issue of corruption told rediff.com that he continues to hold the view.
"Why shouldn't I hold that view," he asked.He refused to comment any further on the subject.
