A jailed woman has sought permission of the court in Bihar to donate her kidney to her co-accused husband, who is battling for his life in a Patna hospital, officials on Thursday said.

Pinki Devi and her husband Anil have been charged with killing the latter's brother Santosh Singh, and have been in in Ara jail in Bhojpur district for the past seven months.

At present, Anil is admitted at the Patna Medical College and Hospital, where doctors diagnosed him suffering from kidney failure and had advised him to get a transplant soon.

Pinki has filed a petition in the court of the chief judicial magistrate to donate her kidney to her ailing husband to save his life. "Her petition will be heard by the court soon" a jail official said.
