The special Central Bureau of Investigation court at Nampally has rejected the bail plea filed by Jaganmohan Reddy while granting the judicial custody of the Kadapa MP till June 11.
Jagan will now be interrogated in the judicial custody for various charges of financial fraud allegedly running into crores of rupees. The YSR Congress chief was arrested by the probe agency after being questioned for three consecutive days at the Dilkusha guest house in Hyderabad.
The CBI put out a strong argument to justify their case and said that they were worried that he may tamper with the evidence.
They also said that he had not been forthcoming with the answers and the clarifications that they had sought during the questioning and hence it became mandatory that they carried out his arrest.
The CBI also alleged that Jagan and his father late Dr Y S Rajasekara Reddy had conspired to favour some firms as a result of which they benefitted hugely.
The CBI stated that there is plenty to be probed and they will also have to look into the routing of funds which have been tracked to tax havens such as Mauritius and the Isle of Mann.
Jagan on the other hand has questioned the timing of his arrest though his lawyer.
It was done with an intention of stopping the ongoing campaign for the by polls, he had said. It was also argued that he was cooperative with the CBI and questioned why it had taken them this long to carry out an arrest.
Jagan's legal team also told the court that he would not abscond and would be available for the CBI questioning at any time of the day.
Meanwhile, Jagan's family continues to sit in protest against his arrest. Although the YSR Congress party has made it clear that his mother Vijayamma would lead the campaign for the party, she is yet to give a final nod and says that she will wait for her son to return.
