Jailed YSR Congress leader Y S Jaganmohan Reddy on Friday moved the Andhra Pradesh high court seeking bail in connection with an alleged case of disproportionate assets involving him.

A special Central Bureau of Investigation court, on November 28, had dismissed one of his bail petitions, observing that "granting bail at this stage of pending investigation will not only impede the investigation, but also infringe the avowed purpose set out by the Supreme Court in its order".

The court on Friday reserved its orders on another bail application for December 4.

The Kadapa Member of Parliament is currently under judicial remand and lodged in the Chanchalguda Central Prison in Hyderabad since his arrest on May 27 by the CBI on corruption charges. In his fresh bail plea under Section 167(2) of the CrPC, Jagan said he was exercising statutory rights for grant of bail in relation to all offences in the case registered against him, where probe has not been completed within the specified period of 90 days from the date of his arrest.

The matter is likely to come up for hearing on December 3.

The Supreme Court had, on October 5, dismissed Jagan's bail plea in the disproportionate assets case.

A bench of justices Aftab Alam and Ranjana Prakash Desai ruled that Jagan can apply for bail only after the CBI completes its investigation in all the seven other cases lodged against him.
