A last-ditch attempt to retain former Karnataka chief minister B S Yeddyurappa in the Karnataka Bharatiya Janata Party has failed. Ahead of an important meeting to be held on Tuesday to patch things up, Yeddyurappa made it clear in Bengaluru that nothing can change his mind.
Yeddyurappa told reporters that both the Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar and Deputy Chief Minister R Ashok had met him and requested him to change his mind. "I clearly told them it is too late now. I also informed them that too much had happened and I will be launching my new party in December as promised to my followers earlier," said Yeddyurappa.
A crucial meeting of the BJP leaders in Delhi and the Yeddyurappa loyalists is scheduled for Tuesday in the National capital. Yeddyurappa's loyalists want him to stay back in the BJP and have suo motu initiated the meeting. Yeddyurappa, however, says he has nothing to do with it. The meeting to be held in Delhi will discuss the problems that Yeddyurappa has with the party and an attempt would be made to break the ice.
However, it seems unlikely that a patch up would take place as the demands by both sides are very high. Moreover, Yeddyurappa who has repeatedly accused the party of back stabbing him appears adamant for now.
