Pulok Chatterjee, Sonia Gandhi's private secretary during the National Democratic Alliance regime, is now the executive director at the World Bank. Chatterjee is an 1974 batch IAS officer.

There has been
speculation in Delhi that Pulok Chatterjee having served Sonia Gandhi as her private secretary during the National Democratic Alliance regime, might be appointed as cabinet secretary. A 1974 batch IAS officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre, 59-year old Chatterjee however, sought to clarify that he was here only to brief the government on the forthcoming meeting of the G-20 nations in Korea in October that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is expected to attend.

Chatterjee had a series of meetings with Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee and also met officials of the finance, external affairs and commerce ministries in the last two days. He also called on Sonia Gandhi, whom he had served as a private secretary during her tenure as the leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha.
