An illegal mini-arms factory has been busted in Jharkhand's Sahibganj district in a joint operation, leading to arrests and the seizure of weapons and equipment.

In a joint operation, the Sahibganj police and Bihar Special Task Force (STF) busted an illegal mini-arms factory in Jharkhand's Sahibganj district, an officer said on Thursday.

Accused Arrested, Weapons Seized

Sahibganj Superintendent of Police Amit Kumar told PTI on Thursday that the joint operation of the Bihar STF and Sahibganj police began on Wednesday late at night and is still continuing.

 

"So far, we have nabbed the main accused, identified as Pervez Islam, from Munger district in Bihar. On his confession, we conducted a raid at a place in Ranga and recovered lathe machines used for preparing weapons and other materials," the police officer said.

Ongoing Investigation

The police officer said that over a dozen illegal semi-finished weapons, three lathe machines and other equipment such as iron melting furnaces, have been seized by the police in the raid.

"We are conducting more raids to nab more accused in the case, and we might recover more illegal weapons soon," the SP added.
