West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Saturday said that she worked hard not as the chief executive of the state, but as a common person.

"I work hard as a common person, and not as chief minister of the state, which I think is not my post. I have deep commitment to the people, as I think if Ma, Mati, Manush (Mother, land and people) is not well, none will keep well,"

Banerjee told her party's annual martyrs' rally in Kolkata. "I am a disciplined person and I am both rough and tough while running the administration, but I am a human too and love the people for whom I am committed my life," she said.

Urging party workers to be careful about their attitude to the people, Banerjee said she would not tolerate misbehaviour.

Earlier, senior Trinamool Congress leader and union minister of state for urban development Saugata Roy said that those who joined the party after 1993 should not be given the same importance as those who joined at the time of its inception.

"We will not allow anyone to misuse our party flag and party banner to serve the interests of the Communist Party of India-Marxist," he said.
