Revealing his original name to immigration authorities when asked to step out of the queue at Bali in Indonesia landed underworld don Chhota Rajan in the security net and he was arrested soon after.

Giving details about the arrest of the don in Indonesia, CBI sources on Friday said when he was asked to step out of the queue at Bali by the immigration authorities and identify himself, Rajan told his real name is Rajendra Sadashiv Nikalje and not Mohan Kumar as mentioned in his passport.

They said after this, the Indonesian authorities were confirmed that he was the person against whom Red Corner Notice was issued.

The authorities then started identification process and 11 out of 18 points of finger print samples given in the notice matched which confirmed his identity.

The sources said he would soon be produced before a magistrate for custody.

Meanwhile, strict security measures have been adopted with the road in front of CBI headquarters closed for public movement. Heavy barricading has been done by the Delhi Police at three spots on the road.

Within headquarters, personnel of Quick Reaction Team of CISF, Nagaland Police and Delhi Police are watching every entry and exit.

Special guards in civil dress are guarding the ground floor and first floor where the underworld don is likely to have been kept even as murmurs of him being kept in a safe house are also doing the rounds.

Delhi Police ready with questionnaire

The Delhi Police has prepared a list of questions and is likely to seek joint interrogation of the gangster.

It is the Special Cell which has been entrusted with the task and the focus will primarily be on the alleged nexus between the underworld and terror outfits, said a senior police official.

The top brass of Delhi Police held a meeting, hours after the 55-year-old gangster landed here, and discussed a range of issues including the potential joint interrogation and the gangster's security.

"There are six cases in Delhi which are linked to Chhota Rajan. However, our quest will not be confined to that and we shall try to find out more about the underworld's alleged links with various terror outfits, including the IS," said the senior official.

The threat perception is very high in the case of Rajan, who might be targeted by his underworld foes, said the senior official.

Asked about the threat perception, Delhi Police Commissioner B S Bassi said that "necessary security measures will be taken".

If allowed, Rajan's interrogation is likely to be led by DCP Sanjeev Kumar Yadav, who is considered a specialist in counter-terrorist operations. Even an alternate detention centre has been kept ready at the Special Cell unit in south Delhi's Lodhi Colony, said another official.

DCP Yadav and his team, including two inspectors, were present at the airbase in Palam Technical Area, where Rajan later arrived. They even arranged a dummy team keeping in view the threat perception in connection with Rajan, said the official, adding that a team of 20 personnel of Special Cell's SWAT team was also deployed there.
