Govt tries to play down H1N1 threat

With the World Health Organisation declaring that the H1N1(Swine Flu) virus poses a significant threat to India, the government has gone into overdrive trying to prevent the spread of the infection.

A high-decibel advertising campaign on television backed by a media frenzy about the infection will hopefully push

the people take preventive measures to keep the infection at bay.

The Ministry of Health and Welfare has released a chart which maps the spread of the infection in India since 2009. While the statistics put out by the government show only a small number of infections and deaths, under reporting in such cases cannot be ruled out.
