Five law students of Jamia Millia Islamia University were on Wednesday chargesheeted in a court for allegedly confining and gang-raping a minor girl at their residence last year.

The probe agency submitted its chargesheet before Metropolitan Magistrate Gaurav Rao, who took cognisance of the matter and fixed February 6 for scrutiny of the documents.

The chargesheet was filed against the five accused -- Pulkit Chaudhary, Amandeep Kadian, Sharad Shekhar Tomar, Roopenshu Pratap Singh and Vikas Punia.

They have been charged for wrongfully concealing or keeping in confinement, kidnapping or abducting a person, gang-raping and cheating by impersonation and common intention under the Indian Penal Code.

The sixth accused -- Prateek Singh Choudhary, -- apprehended by the police early this month, was released after custodial interrogation as he is still a suspect in the case, the police said.

The 13-page chargesheet, with annexures running into several pages, includes 30 prosecution witnesses and 40 documents.

The five law students had allegedly gang-raped the 16-year-old girl, who was held in captivity at the South Delhi residence of one of the co-accused, the police had said.

The police also said that one among the accused had posed as a Delhi police official and raped her. He had warned her that if she objected to his advances than he will implicate her in a false case.

The police had earlier arrested Pulkit, Amandeep, Sharad, Rooenshu and Vikas, all law students at Jamia University, after a complaint was lodged at the Defence Colony police station in South Delhi in September 15 by the girl's parents.

The girl's parents had told the police that their daughter, a class XI student in a government school, had not returned home after attending school on September 15,
2012.

Initially a case of kidnapping was registered by the police. When the girl was found after two months on November 27, 2012, she deposed that she had accompanied her friend Amit Gautam to his flat, where she was held captive and gang-raped by all the accused.
