'First say sorry to 6 crore Gujaratis, Mr Modi'

In reply to Modi's letter to citizens on Tuesday, leader of the Opposition in the assembly and Congress leader Shaktisinh Gohil has written an open letter to Modi.

Text of the Letter:

Dear Bhai Shri Narendrabhai,

I was amused to read about your Sadbhavna Mission and your cathartic announcement of a three day fast.

This is nothing but a political gimmick.

You were the chief minister in 2002. I would have heartily welcomed your Sadbhavna initiative and your fast and would have volunteered to come with a glass of juice if you had displayed any moral fibre by going on a fast in 2002 or expressed any sadbhavna then. Your own party leader and then-Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee had asked you to follow Rajdharma.

Bhai, if you would have had displayed any signs of Rajdharma, if you would have genuinely believed in Sadbhavna. The 2002 riots would not have happened and you would not have had to launch this special mission or go on a fast in 2011.

Wish instead of fasting or this publicity and political stunt, you would apologise for 2002.

In 2002, you did not even bother to go to a single minority's house and wiped any tears. Because that time bhai, you saw only votes and not tears as you conveniently practiced your signatures style sinister divisive politics.

Of course, since you conveniently moved from Hindu hriday samrat to development messiah, because your own party had allies backing out because of you and you realised that you have no national future by remaining a Hindu poster boy.

I am not confident. I am convinced that your announcement of fast and sadbhavna mission is just another gimmick. In your narcissistic letter to sisters and brothers of India you claim, "One thing is apparent from the Supreme Court's judgment. The unhealthy environment created by the unfounded and false allegations made against me and Government of Gujarat, after 2002 riots, has come to an end."

Bhai, the SC has yet not given you a clean chit. How has it come to an end? Why are you misleading the people of this country when the matter is still sub judice?

Even when you talk, you refer to yourself as Modi does not want this, Modi does not believe in this. Your narcissim is legendary like your hypocrisy. You say it is fashionable to criticise and defame you.

I think you need to update your skewed knowledge on fashion.

Wearing funny cowboy hats must be fashionable for you and I don't want to dispute your personal sense of fads and fashion but slaughtering cows is not fashionable for six crore Gujaratis especially during our religious festivals of Paryushan.

You say it is fashionable to hate you. But I hope you know that in a democracy it is not fashionable to sponsor riots. Also in your characteristic megalomaniac style, you combine Gujarati asmita with your own self.

As if that is one single identity! You say, "It has become fashionable to defame me and the State of Gujarat.".

Bhai you are NOT Gujarat. Gujarat is Mahatma Gandhi and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Gujarat is a place where Jains ensure that they do not kill even a mosquito. It is only in your regime that whether it is cows or human beings, there is no value of any life. It is because of you that Gujarat has been defamed.

Just because Gujaratis have entrepreneurship in their DNA, you cannot misguide people by saying that those who cannot tolerate any positive development are criticising you. You are criticised because you happen to be the only chief minister in the country who have been charged of mass murders.

You are the only chief minister in this country who has sponsored riots. Like you are the only CM in the country who has been denied a visa because of your dismal human rights record.

It is pointless to ask you to listen to your conscience, because by now it is clear that you just don't have any. If you had any, would 2002 have occurred? Would your own senior party leader Haren Pandya be assassinated, with his family pointing fingers at you that you got him eliminated.

Do you think you even have a right to talk of non-violence and peace? Please, stop (mis)using "Six crore Gujaratis" for your vested interest. Your divisive politics is a blot to this country.

When you say, "Hate is never conquered by hate" in your letter, it sounds like a dirty vulgar joke. Because it reminds Six crore Gujaratis of how you had said "every action has a reaction" in 2002 and had shamelessly defended those fanatic rioters who were out on the streets killing innocent people.

Bhai Narendrabhai, today you are preaching unity and harmony. I will just ask you one simple question. You roam around with 300 security guards. Why doesn't a single guard of yours belong to the Minority community?

Why have all security personnel belonging to minority communities removed by you from the ministerial enclave? On one hand you systematically eliminate minorities around you and on other hand you write about social harmony and how you care for minority development?

This is your typical self: Dual approach and convenient politics.

Your Sadbhavna Mission and newfound secularism stinks of hypocrisy, deceit, narcissism and lies. Your mission, your fast are all political stunts to deflect attention from Lokayukta issue, the multi crore corruption and scams that you have been cornered in and Haren Pandya's murder issue in which fingers have been raised against you by the family.

Your so-called three-day fast and sadbhavna mission stand nullified with your record of hatred, violence and bloodshed. And all the while, you have been unapologetic.

First say sorry to six crore Gujaratis and people of India before you embark on yet another publicity stunt.

Please stop cheating the people of this country.

Always in the service of the nation

I remain

Shaktisinh Gohil
