A person was killed and three injured in a bomb explosion at a rehabilitation centre in Kandhamal district today, the police said.

The incident took place this evening when an unidentified person allegedly hurled a bomb on the rehabilitation centre at Nandagiri under G Udaygiri police station area, 54 km from Phulbani, they said.

About 53 riot-hit families who had lost their houses and refused to return to villages at Betikela due to fear, were provided land by the state government to set up a colony, official sources said.

Of the 53 families, 40 were staying at the place after constructing houses, they said, adding that land dispute could be a reason behind the incident.

Superintendent of police Praveen Kumar confirmed the incident, but could not give details about the incident.
