A lawyer, who was reported missing after she accused a former Haryana top cop of molesting her, resurfaced on Friday. The lawyer, who had leveled the charge against former Inspector General of Haryana Police M S Ahlawat, returned to her residence in Yamunanagar and said she had gone to Rohtak to meet Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda.
Jagjit Singh, father of the lawyer, had lodged a complaint with the Yamunanagar police on Thursday night and claimed that his daughter has gone missing.
However, on return to her residence, she told reporters that she went to meet the chief minister at Rohtak. "I have brought the copy of Daily Diary Report from Rohtak police on my case," she said.
Asked why she wanted to meet the chief minister, the lawyer said she went to meet Hooda to get sections 376 and 511 of the Indian Penal Code added in the FIR lodged on June 8.
Section 376 relates to the offence of rape and 511 relates to an attempt to do an offence. She claimed that she had filed several complaints with the police regarding the accident of her father, the attack on her brother and her own kidnapping in connection with the case. She alleged that several of her complaints against Ahlawat had been ignored by police.
"I am still not satisfied as the police have not added relevant sections of the IPC in the FIR," she said.
In his complaint to the police on Thursday, Ahlawat's father said that the three police personnel posted at the lawyer's house for her protection were unaware of her whereabouts.
Ahlawat had on Thursday moved a local court for anticipatory bail after he was booked for allegedly molesting and intimidating the woman lawyer eight years back when he was superintendent of police.
The case, which is similar to the Ruchika molestation case for which former Haryana director general of police SPS Rathore was convicted and finally jailed, was registered on Tuesday against Ahlawat by the Yamunanagar police under various sections of the IPC.
A SIT has been constituted to probe the issue. Ahlawat has been booked under sections 354 (criminal force on a woman with intent to outrage modesty), 323 (assault with intent to voluntarily cause hurt) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC in the case.
His bail plea will come up for hearing in the district and sessions court on June 14. The victim had recently met Haryana Director General of Police Ranjiv Singh Dalal at Panchkula. She claimed to have come into Ahlawat's contact when she had approached the Yamunanagar police in May 2002, to lodge a case of dowry harassment against her husband.
The victim alleged that Ahlawat had insisted on meeting her in his camp office and allegedly tried to establish illicit relations with her.
