‘If you transform your talent into determination to perform, no one can stop India from becoming a superpower,’ Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh tells youngsters at the closing ceremony of the 19th National Youth Festival in Guwahati. K Anurag / Rediff.com reports.
Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has asked the country's youth to emulate the qualities of Swami Vivekanand and translate their talents into volition for making India a superpower.
"If you transform your talent into determination to perform, no one can stop India from becoming a superpower. If you want to contribute to the country, then emulate the qualities of Swami Vivekananda to work for others," said Singh addressing the closing ceremony of the 19th National Youth Festival in Guwahati.
"We want to create a situation where our youth produce the kind of goods with Made in India label that spell 'super quality' globally," Singh said.
"For easing the unemployment problem in the country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi wants to help those willing to work, have skill and are qualified," he said.
"India is a young country. It is passing through challenging times. Some elements are trying to influence the youth through drug addiction. Sports persons have to start a campaign against drug addiction," Singh said.
The Union minister also remembered young freedom fighters of Assam, including 16-year-old
"Like you, they were youths and thousands sacrificed their life for India to become independent. You are unique talents of this country. In these last five days, you discussed various issues and we hope you will carry the message across the country," Singh said.
"If anyone asks who was India's global youth, we have to say it was Swami Vivekananda. Through his speech in the World Parliament of Religions in Chicago, he opened the eyes of the world that humanity was above religion," Singh added.
Referred to the recent killing of over 70 poor and hapless Adivasis by NDFB-S militants in Assam, Rajnath said that the youth of the country must condemn and raise their voice against such heinous crime against humanity.
He said the northeast was not cut off from the rest of the country.
“If Kashmir is the crown of India, northeast is its strong arms. If any force tries to do harm to India, these strong arms will teach a good lesson. Guwahati and Assam are not only gateway to the Northeast, but also the highway to connect northeast with New Delhi,” the home minister said, lauding the Union Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Sarbananda Sonowal for holding the 19th National Youth Festival in Guwahati.
