An elderly couple was found murdered in a village in Chhattisgarh's Janjgir-Champa district, police said on Wednesday.

The bodies of Santaram Sahu (65) and his wife Shyama Bai Sahu (60) were discovered in a pool of blood in the morning in a room of their house in Khapri village under the jurisdiction of Mulmula police station, an official said.

 

He said the couple went to sleep as usual on Tuesday night.

After being alerted, a police team reached the spot and sent the bodies for the post-mortem, he said.

Investigation Details

Preliminary investigation suggests that robbery was not the motive, as cash and gold ornaments kept in the house were found intact, he said.

Police suspect the murder may be linked to a property dispute or personal enmity.

An FIR has been registered, and further probe is on, the official added.
