In a word of advice to Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, state Congress chief Saifuddin Soz on Tuesday said the National Conference leader should "not get emotional" over the allegation of him being involved in a sex scandal and press for his resignation.

Soz described the 'crisis' as temporary and said there is no need for Governor's rule in the state as a solution would be found.

"By giving his resignation, he is standing on a high moral ground... He is confident that he will win both politically and morally," state Congress chief Saifuddin Soz said.

To a question, he said, "Governor's rule is out of question."

He said the Congress and the National Conference, which is heading the coalition government, are together on this issue.

"The crisis is temporary. We will find a solution to this crisis. All Members of Legislative Assembly are together. We shall go by consensus and democratic norms," Soz said.

"Mr Abdullah should not get emotional and press for his resignation. It is an accusation made by the PDP (Peoples Democratic Party). He (Abdullah) has not been found guilty by a judge," Soz told mediapersons outside Parliament.

Soz was reacting to accusations by the People's Democratic Party that the Jammu & Kashmir chief minister was involved in the infamous 'Srinagar sex scandal'. After the accusation was hurled at him by PDP legislator and former deputy chief minister Muzaffar Hussain Beigh, Abdullah declared that he will resign until he is absolved of the charges. He also submitted his resignation to Governor N N Vorah.
