Are women really safe in Ajay Mohan Bisht's Uttar Pradesh?

In another shocking incident, a 50-year-old anganwadi worker was gang-raped and brutally murdered allegedly by a priest and his two accomplices in Budaun district, Uttar Pradesh.

Sadly, National Commission of Women member and former Bharatiya Janata Party legislator Chandramukhi Devi observed the crime could have been avoided if the victim had not gone out alone in the evening.

Last September, a 19-year-old Dalit woman was beaten, brutally raped and tortured in UP's Hathras district. The woman later succumbed to her grievious injuries.

Dominic Xavier wonders if such cruel and heinous crimes against women will ever end in Uttar Pradesh.
