Dom's Take: COVID-19 vaccine: So close, yet so far

As the world waits with bated breath for the anti-coronavirus vaccine, the Drugs Controller General of India has given the Serum Institute of India its nod to conduct phase 2 and 3 human clinical trials of the Oxford University developed COVID-19 vaccine candidate in the country.

Currently, phase 2 and 3 clinical trials of the Oxford vaccine candidate are underway in the United Kingdom. Phase 3 clinical trial is underway in Brazil while phase 1 and 2 clinical trials are underway in South Africa.

India's COVID-19 tally crossed 1.8 million mark on Monday, August 3.

It was the fifth consecutive day that COVID-19 cases increased by more than 50,000 in the country..

Dominic Xavier offers his take on the COVID-19 vaccine which experts feel should be expected only in mid-2021. Till then we have to get used to live with the virus.
