An FIR has been lodged against nine Delhi police personnel in connection with the gunning down of Manoj Vashishth in an alleged encounter at a restaurant in national capital, police said on Monday.
The Baghpat chief judicial magistrate issued the order, post which an FIR has been registered against Delhi Police inspector Dharmendra Kumar, Superintendent of Police Sharad Sachan said.
Kumar was leading the team along with -- SI Vivek Singh, SI Bhoop Singh, HC Sanjay Pal Singh, HC Anil Rao, Constable Jitendra Kumar, Constable Abdul Ahed Khan, Constable Mohit Salve and Constable Munish Solanki, he added.
FIR has been lodged under various sections of the Indian Penal Code including 302 (murder), 147 (punishment for rioting), 148 (Rioting, armed with deadly weapon) and 506 (criminal intimidation), the SP said.
It was registered on a compliant filed by the victim's brother Anil, who had alleged that Vashishth's killing was a conspiracy of the police.
As CBI is probing the Manoj Vashishth encounter case, the FIR will be transferred to them, the SP said.
Vashisth was allegedly killed in an encounter on May 16 at a restaurant in central Delhi's Rajendra Nagar by a team of Delhi police.
