The Delhi police will file its chargesheet in connection with the gang-rape of a 23-year-old girl in the metropolitan magistrate's court in Saket on Thursday.

The case will then be moved to the fast track court to hear it on a day-to-day trial basis.

The Delhi police, which had earlier invoked murder charges against the six men allegedly involved in the gang-rape, plans to submit a 1000-page chargesheet in connection with this case.

Chief Justice of India Altamas Kabir inaugurated a fast track court at Saket Court Complex in Delhi on Wednesday evening. The gang-rape and murder of a 23-year
old physiotherapy student in Delhi will be the first case to be heard in this court.

Strongly advocating for courts to act as a deterrent in the future to check crimes against women, CJI Kabir on Wednesday said ''a serious message needs to be sent in dealing with such heinous crimes''.

"There is a need to pay greatest attention to crimes against women, elderly and children," he added.

The girl was gang-raped and brutally assaulted allegedly by six men in a moving bus in south Delhi on December 16 night.
