A 15-year-old girl from Jharkhand working as a domestic help in a Vasant Kunj home was rescued on Monday and admitted to a hospital with knife injuries, while police have booked her employer for assaulting and illegally confining the minor.
The girl has been badly injured and was rescued by a joint team of a non-governmental organisation and the police. The NGO had received information in this regard and informed the police.
Medical examination on the girl was conducted, said a police officer.
"There are knife injuries on her head and hand. There is a deep gash on her head as well," said police. According to the police, the teenager's employers are two women, a 50-year-old woman and her 85-year-old mother. The woman works in a senior post in a private company.
The girl reportedly told the police that she had been working with her employers for the past one year and they used to beat her up almost every day, apparently not happy with her work.
The police have registered a case of assault and illegal confinement against the employer. Sections of bonded labour has also been included in the first information report, the police said.
"An FIR has been lodged under Sections 323, 324, 326 and 342 of the Indian Penal Code and 16 Bonded Labour Act at Vasant Kunj North police station," Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) B S Jaiswal told PTI.
The female employer of the girl, who works with a private firm, can be arrested any time now. "There are serious injuries on her body but the nature of injuries will be ascertained only after the medical report," said Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) B S Jaiswal.
