With the report of one more death in the cyclone-hit Andhra Pradesh the death toll rose to 26 on Wednesday. Over 1.35 lakh people are rehabilitated in the relief camps set up by the state government.

The maximum number of deaths are reported as having occurred in Visakhapatnam.

In the neighbouring Vizianagaram district eight people were killed while two others died in Srikakulam district, the state disaster management department said in a statement.

It said more than 1.35 lakh people are rehabilitated in the relief camps and 6,85,000 people are provided food in the camps, the statement said.

The cyclone with gusty winds of about 180 kmph and heavy downpour battered Visakhapatnam and other coastal districts of Vizianagaram and Srikakulam on Sunday last, leaving a trail of destruction behind.
