Curfew was clamped in parts of Srinagar, Kupwara and Kralpora towns and restrictions were imposed on people's movement in Hyderpora and Budgam towns on Sunday in view of a shutdown call by separatists across the Kashmir Valley.

In Srinagar city, curfew was imposed in several areas under seven police stations -- Nowhatta, Khanyar, Rainawari, Safakadal, M R Gunj, Bemina and Qammerwari, police said.

They said curfew would also remain in force in Kupwara and Kralpora towns of north Kashmir, while restrictions havebeen imposed in Hyderpora and Budgam towns in central Kashmir.

The hardline faction of Hurriyat Conference led by Syed Ali Shah Geelani, spearheading the ongoing agitation, has called for a complete strike and protests throughout the Valley.

Markets remained closed and all modes of transport was off the roads.

The Valley was rocked by violence following death of a teenager on June 11 after he was allegedly hit by a teargas shell near Rajouri Kadal area of old city. Street protests since then have claimed 64 lives.
