Creativity is the new buzz word in the Prime Minister's Office, and it comes straight from Dr Manmohan Singh.

He told all senior PMO officers on Thursday to drop the bureaucratic way of working and think creatively on implementing the UPA government's agenda and improving delivery systems.

"Equity, innovation and public accountability" shall be the watchwords in the working of PMO, he said and asked the officers to rethink new systems of monitoring and evaluating performance of various arms of the government.

A PMO official said the prime minister also discussed with the officers the follow-up measures to be initiated within the first 100 days and the pending reform of regulatory institutions in the areas of health and education.

He also wants the passage of the pending banking and insurance regulatory bills in the next budget session starting June 29.

The prime minister also discussed the constitution of a delivery monitoring unit in the PMO as announced in the President's address to monitor flagship programmes and iconic projects. He stressed that the new unit shall be directly responsible to the public, releasing regular reports on the status of these programmes and projects.
