Additional District and Sessions Judge BP Verma directed that Sen be released on a personal bond and surety of Rs 50,000 each, three days after the activist, who was sentenced to life imprisonment on sedition charges for helping Naxals set up a network, was granted bail by the apex court.
The
direction came after Sen's counsel Mahendra Dubey submitted to the court the Apex court order, which had left it to the trial court to impose the conditions for Sen's release on bail.
The 61-year-old activist has been lodged in a jail in Raipur since he was convicted in December last year. The court asked Sen not to leave the country and appear in the high court for trial whenever required.
"We have struggled for long. We will continue to work for the tribals," Sen's wife Ilina, who was present in the court along with their daughter and other activists, said.
