A couple linked to the Islamic State's Khorasan module was on Sunday detained from south Delhi's Jamia Nagar for instigating anti-Citizenship Amendment Act riots in the national capital, police said.

They have been identified as Jahanjeb Sami and his wife Hina Bashir Beg, said Pramod Singh Kushwah, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell).

"They were involved in instigating anti-Citizenship (Amendment) Act protests," he said.

The police recovered electronic gadgets and incriminating material promoting jihadi thought from their possession.

Sami came under the scanner due to his activities on cyberspace which revealed his intention to carry out suicide attacks in the country. He was in "association with senior ISKP members in Afghanistan". He was earlier also in contact with Khurasan-based Huzaifa Bakistani (Amir of Wilaya Hind who has since been killed).
