The Congress will not allow the Maharashtra state assembly to function and will corner the Bharatiya Janata Party-led state government, Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee said on Sunday.

“The Devendra Fadnavis government is illegal and unconstitutional. It has failed to face the confidence motion on the floor of the House on November 12,” MPCC Chief Manikrao Thakre and former Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithiviraj Chavan said.

“The voice vote was a farce and cannot be justified,” Chavan said, quoting the speech of former Supreme Court Justice and former Press Council of India Justice P B Sawant.

Thakre said that BJP has also failed to submit a list of legislators supporting the ruling party.

“We have asked for a copy of the video recording of the proceedings of the House but this has been denied by the Speaker,” he said.

Chavan said that there is a conspiracy to suspend more Congress MLAs from the House.

He said that a committee under the chairmanship of the Speaker himself has been formed to find out more Congress faces whom the BJP held responsible for heckling the Governor of the state. Five of the members have been suspended by the Speaker already, he said.
