In the wake of Jharkhand Chief Minister Arjun Munda escaping narrowly in a helicopter crash, some websites have abusive contents against politicians, a Congress MP said in Rajya Sabha said on Thursday and demanded immediate action against it.
Raising the issue during Zero Hour, Shantaram Naik (Cong) said "abusive, defamatory and filthy" comments like "I would like to hear this news everyday of a chopper going down with a politician with no survivors except the crew" were posted on the websites below the news of Munda escaping death.
"Provide a defective helicopter to all such politicians...Oh no, copter is dead but CM is alive. Bad luck copter and...God please punish all these people," were other such posts, Naik said lamenting in such circumstances people used to normally "express relief and happiness" that CM was out of danger.
However, in recent times, when any news appears on website of a daily, readers are allowed to post their comments, he said adding, "it is unfortunate that such comments are perhaps not edited or censored."
"Had these appeared in print, they would have caused riots and ugly situations," he said.
Saying that "these comments cannot be exempted from laws of the land, just because they did not appear in print edition of the newspaper concerned," Naik demanded appropriate steps to contain these as they have become a routine nuisance.
"All high profile national and international personalities are abused day in and day out but if politicians abroad (other countries) do not object to it, so it be; but we have to purify the system," he added.
Munda, his wife and four others miraculously escaped ion Wednesday with injuries when a helicopter carrying them crash landed at the airport in Ranchi.
