A marginal rise in the temperature, coupled with bright sunshine, came as a relief to Delhi residents for the second consecutive day even as the capital registered a temperature of 19.4 degree Celsius on Thursday, the meteorological department said.
The sun also shone brightly at other places in north India, including Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Ambala, and Kurukshetra. But nights were cold with Ambala and Hisar recording temperatures of 3.6 degree Celsius and 3.3 degree Celsius, respectively.
Ludhiana was the coldest city in Punjab with a low of 1.4 degree Celsius while Amritsar recorded a low of 2.2 degree and Patiala of 4.3 degree Celsius.
After witnessing a slight increase in the minimum temperature on Wednesday, Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir recorded a low of minus 2.5 degree Celsius the next day. Jammu recorded a minimum of 2.5 degree Celsius, the meteorological department said.
In Himachal Pradesh, Bhuntar with a low of minus 0.2 degree Celsius and Sundernagar with zero degree Celsius experienced chilly nights. In comparison, Simla continued to enjoy warmer nights recording 5.6 degree Celsius.
While all international and national flights were on time in Delhi, rail traffic continued to be affected by fog with several trains running late.
