I know they are calling it a robbery, but it is a pattern. The timing raises a lot of questions. Only last week Home Minister Rajnath Singh assured us that all religious structures and institutions will be protected and this has happened.
This has happened in Vasant Vihar. This is a high profile zone where diplomats and ambassadors of many countries live. It shows our police in bad light.
The prime minister has summoned the Delhi police chief and told him to give adequate security to minority institutions. He also asked him about the church attacks and told him to act fast and make sure the culprits are caught.
The police always downplay such attacks and say that they are isolated incidents. In the morning they said it was an insider job. After the prime minister's intervention they say it is too early to make conclusions. Let them complete the investigation and then make comments.
Only the CCTV in the corridors has been destroyed. The outside ones are intact and they can examine them.
Though the chief minister-designate Arvind Kejriwal has said these incidents should not be allowed, action has to come from the central government as the Delhi police is under the home ministry.
