Chinnaswamy stadium blast: IM operative in police custody

The Bangalore police have in their custody an important member of the Indian Mujahideen, Kamal Hasan. Hasan who is allegedly involved in the Chinnaswamy cricket stadium blast was brought down to Bangalore from Kolkata.

Hasan was arrested a week back in Kolkata. The 24-year-old, who also goes by the name Bilal, is a native of Bihar. He is said to have had close ties with the Bhatkal brothers, Police Commissioner Jyothi Prakash Mirji said.

He is said to have been part of the plan that carried out the stadium blasts in 2009 which left 15 persons injured.

He underwent training in Bhatkal, Karnataka according to the police and was later sent to Bihar to set up base. He also provided hideouts for accused in various other blasts, the police added in their remand application.
